Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 20, 2026

This policy explains how the pourquoi.app app (“the app”) and the website pourquoi.app (“the site”) handle information about you. In short: all data produced by the app stays on your device. We do not run any application server. If you voluntarily submit an email address on the site (waitlist), that processing is described in § 3.2.

1. Data controller

App and site publisher: Nicolas Carrion, sole proprietorship (trading as Nyko Labs), 430 rue de Moirey, 21850 Saint-Apollinaire, France — SIREN 105 845 069. Contact: contact@pourquoi.app.

2. Data processed by the app

2.1 Data stored locally

The app stores the following exclusively on your device:

  • Your answers (chosen reason, date, source: notification, app, Shortcut).
  • Your settings (time window, interval, display preferences).
  • The status of your active subscription, checked through Apple’s StoreKit.

Data is stored via SwiftData and shared between the app and its widget through an iOS App Group (group.app.pourquoi.shared). It is deleted when you uninstall the app.

2.2 Screen Time data (optional)

If you grant Screen Time access, the app reads usage data via Apple’s FamilyControls and DeviceActivity frameworks. This data is read on the fly to compute the insights shown in “My stats”. It is not sent to any server and is not shared with third parties. You can revoke this authorization at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen Time.

2.3 In-app purchases and subscriptions

Subscription purchases are handled exclusively by Apple through StoreKit 2. We collect no card number and no identity information. The app only checks whether an active entitlement is returned by Apple.

3. Data processed by the site

3.1 Browsing and hosting

The site is static. It drops no non-essential cookies, embeds no ad trackers and no third-party analytics. Minimal technical logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp) may be kept temporarily by our hosting provider for security and anti-abuse purposes.

3.2 Waitlist signup (email)

When you submit your email address in the waitlist form, it is sent to Brevo (SAS Brevo, 7 rue de Madrid, 75008 Paris, France — brevo.com), our email and list subscription provider, acting as a processor. Brevo applies appropriate security and compliance measures (see Brevo’s privacy policy).

Purpose: to notify you when the app is available, about meaningful updates, and occasionally other low-noise messages related to pourquoi.app, based on your consent (explicit form submission, and confirmation if double opt-in is enabled). Retention: addresses are kept until you unsubscribe; you may opt out anytime via the link in emails or by writing to contact@pourquoi.app. Rights: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability — contact us as above, or Brevo for data they hold on our behalf, without prejudice to your right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

4. Recipients

No app data leaves your device. The only data exchanged is between your iPhone and Apple, as part of Apple’s own services (App Store, Screen Time, StoreKit). Apple acts as an independent data controller in that context; see apple.com/legal/privacy.

Email addresses collected through the waitlist are processed by Brevo on our behalf, as described in § 3.2.

5. Legal basis and retention

Local processing relies on the performance of the service you use. Data stays on your device as long as the app is installed; you can erase it at any time by deleting the app (see “Data deletion”).

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR and applicable laws, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. Because app data stays on your device, these rights are primarily exercised by deleting the app or adjusting iOS permissions. For anything else: contact@pourquoi.app.

You can also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority (in France: the CNIL, cnil.fr).

7. Security

App data is protected by iOS security mechanisms (per-app sandboxing, device encryption when locked).

8. Children

The app is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from them.

9. Changes

Any material change will be published here with a new update date. Minor edits may be published without separate notice.
